2015 Year End Update
YEAR END UPDATE
Hello! Shaun here, the Director of A Fat Wreck,
As the year comes to a close I wanted to give you an update on the progress of the film and the status of the perks.
This project has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done. It has impacted every aspect of my life. It has put strains on our family financially and has impacted my marriage, my career and affected me both physically and mentally. (During the making of this film we had our first child she is now 15 months old!)
If I would have known how much work and sacrifice it would take to make this film come to life I may have been more hesitant to initiate it, Thank goodness for naïveté!.
That being said I would do it again in a heartbeat! It also has been one of the most exciting and rewarding projects I have ever done!
So it has been a while since our last update and since then we have been editing pretty much non-stop for the past 5 months, We have done two "Test Screening". One was in San Francisco in August and the other was in Gainesville last October. So far the film has been received very well but it also provided valuable feedback on areas that could be perfected.
Since the first indiegogo we were very careful about managing expectations and avoided setting exact release dates. I am a first time director and the learning curve for making a feature length documentary is a long one. I have been very lucky to have an amazing team of seasoned professionals that have been able to provide guidance and advice. Our driving goal has never been to get it out as quickly as we could but to put out the best movie possible with the resources we have available.
Although we were able to raise a pretty amazing amount of money via crowd funding, the reality is that it really only covers about half of the true cost of making a film of this size. So know that by the time the film has been released I will have put in as much of my own money as we raised with your support!
We could not have gotten this thing started without your support and patience. THIS FILMS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT YOU!
The reason the updates have become less frequent is that our FULL attention and resources have gone into completing the film and we are closer than ever. We are now in the nitty gritty of nitpicking the small details (of which there are many in a film this size) our next step is arguably the most boring. Legal stuff. in order for the film to released properly we have to account for every image and sound that appears in the film. Everything that appears on screen has to cataloged and legal documents have to be created.
We are really excited to share this film with you as soon as possible. Please know that we are working as quickly and as carefully as we can. The film has my full attention and getting it and the perks out as quickly as we can is a top priority.
We cannot thank you enough for your patience and understanding.
More updates to come!
