A Fat Wreck Production Blog #12- Justin Wilson/ Filmage
We are extremely excited for our very own Justin Wilson, Co-Producer, Director of Photography, and FIlm Consultant for A Fat Wreck. His latest film was released on itunes this past week and was met with great success.
For those of you unaware of the punk rock doc world, a movie called Filmage: The Story of Descendents/All was released last week. It managed to break the top 3 music documentaries on itunes making it one of punk rocks biggest movies.
When I first met Justin, I'll admit he was a little intimidating. His tall stature and calm demeanor came off as uber professional, as does his body of work. We had just started making our doc about Fat Wreck and here we were meeting with Justin at Charlie Uniform Tango (his current gig; a Dallas based multimedia commercial studio). We sat down and talked about music, movies, and life on the stage. Justin was a former member of Red Animal War, a Dallas based indie rock band he toured with nationally during the early 2000’s.
His passion for film and punk rock have helped us shape the documentary that we are currently working on. He was able to bring his expertise and skill set to A Fat Wreck and has helped us shape it's cinematic presentation.
Between films Justin directs music videos, some of which have been for The Polyphonic Spree, The Toadies & Riverboat Gamblers. Wilson's directed commercials for brands such as American Airlines, Neiman Marcus & Beachmint and co-created a webseries for Vans starring Oliver Peck. When he's not behind the camera or in an edit suite, he can be found traveling to the pacific northwest in search of inspiration.
